New year, new opportunities!
For many people, a new year starts with New Year’s resolutions. Some want to quit smoking or go to the gym more often. Development is also a very popular New Year's resolution. Would you like to develop yourself further in the new year on a personal or business level, or would you like to learn new skills, for example? In this article there are a number of courses you can attend in order to improve your communication or work skills.
Dutch course (area of Westland)
Do you want to learn or improve your Dutch? Maybe this course is something for you!
This course is for people who are 18 years or older, who have a passport from their country of origin and live and work in Westland. The course is only one evening per week. You can choose by yourself whether you want to participate, on Monday or Thursday evenings. The course is from 18:45 to 21:15. You will attend this course together with a group, all with the same language level as you.
There are three groups:
- From level 0 to A1
- Level A1 - A2
- Level A2 - B1 (2 shifts: day and evening)
The course costs € 30 ,- euros in total, teaching materials cost about € 50 ,- euros. The lessons take place at the World Horti Center in Naaldwijk.

Dutch course (area of Roosendaal)
Do you want to learn or improve your Dutch? Maybe this course is something for you!
At Curio you can sign up to learn Dutch as a second language. After an intake interview we determine what level of Dutch you have and which course suits you best. You will then be assigned to a group and the course will be scheduled.
The course is partly subsidized, so you pay a maximum of 100 euros for the entire course.

Forklift Basic Course
A forklift course is recommended for everyone who drives or wants to drive a forklift. To drive a forklift, you must be able to demonstrate that you as the driver are qualified.
The forklift truck basic course is a one-day course which covers all the requirements of the Arbo (Working Conditions Act). The Working Conditions Act states that all vehicles, machines and other equipment must be operated safely and capably. During this one-day course you will be trained both theoretically and practically as a forklift driver.
Cost between € 175,- and € 250,-.
Good to know: Many forklift courses are available in the Polish, Romanian, English and Turkish language!
Sprayer license 1 - Preforming
This license applies if you work in Greenhouse horticulture.
The perform spray license (license 1) is the first license employees need to work professionally with crop protection products. During the training you will learn the basic principles of crop protection. This includes safety, effective control and attention to the environment.
This course consists of 6 sessions (3 teaching days) + exam and costs € 640,-.
However, you can apply for the Dutch STAP budget for this course, which means that this course will FREE!
Workers and job seekers in Holland can apply for a STAP budget up to €1,000 per year for training and personal development. This is a subsidy you can only use for a training, course or personal education.
To apply for this subsidy, you must be able to prove that you will be attending a course or training. Therefore it’s important that you receive a registration receipt and student number from the training center.
